Appreciation FY’06

Parents;
National Staff
Appreciation Week is May 1-5. Please join us in thanking our Teachers
and Staff for all of their hard work this year!!! The following
outlines the activities the Staff Appreciation Committee is planning and
the activities we’d like your help with:

Mon., May 1 |
Flower Day:
This is a
great way to start the week. Please send to school with your
son or daughter two flowers. A parent volunteer will help make
two flower arrangements for the class. One for your teacher and
one for a staff member. |

Tues. May 2 |
The Staff Appreciation
Committee will provide the teachers and staff Breakfast Treats.
|
|
Wed. May 3 |
The Staff Appreciation
Committee will provide Ice Cream Sundaes. |
|
Thurs. May 4 |
The Staff
Appreciation Committee will provide a catered lunch for the
teachers and staff. Volunteers are needed to help set-up and

Thanks You
Day:
This is an opportunity
for the students and parents to thank their teacher for their
effort this year. A class gift will be purchased; but if your
son or daughter would like to provide a gift or a card, please
bring it to school on Friday, May 5th.

Somerset Staff Appreciation FY’06
To all Somerset Room Parents;
Thank you for your involvement and commitment to Staff Appreciation this year! The format for Staff Appreciation is similar to last year.
Each month a different class will be asked to host a food theme for
the staff of Somerset. We have come up with the below schedule and
suggested ideas. Please feel free to adjust dates, come up with your own
ideas, or switch with other grades (as long as both grades agree).

Due to a busy school calendar in February, grades 1 & 2 will be combined for the March Staff Appreciation activities. February includes Valentines class parties and mid winter break. |
Please plan for about 60 staff members. Usually to be held in the staff lounge on the 2nd floor.
Here is how we’d recommend that you approach planning your event:
Keep it simple! The staff appreciates anything and everything that you do! Involve other parent volunteers – Don’t try to do everything yourself Contact room parents from the other classes in your grade level (We can provide a list if you don’t have one.) As a team:
Choose a theme -- you can change the above recommendations
Plan the items needed for the event (paper goods, food, drinks, etc.)
Divide efforts between classes using class volunteers
Arrange time for set-up and clean-up
Set-up for breakfast treats should be around 7:45-8:00 so that teachers can enjoy the morning snacks before things get busy for the day.
Be sure to arrange clean-up time so that the lounge is left in a nice condition for the staff
Coordinate between the classes how costs will be shared. Collect all bills, divide between classes. Funds for appreciation events should come from class funds collected by Room Parents.
When your class has confirmed the date, hours and theme, please contact the staff appreciation committee and we will send out invitations one week in advance of your activity.
