Support Somerset Elementary Auction
The major issue we face as a school is having enough
financial resources to do what we all want—provide a superior education
for our students to enable them to compete in the global marketplace. At
Somerset, we have kids ready to learn, and kids who are well-prepared
for school; we have a dedicated staff with high expectations for
students; and we have strong financial support from parents. Yet, with
all these advantages, we still have a funding gap. Here’s why we believe
you might be interested in our auction and the importance of funds
generated at this event:
Somerset Elementary has an annual discretionary budget of just $60,000
to provide for all of the school curriculum materials, textbooks,
supplies, equipment, and additional staff support. The cost of the
school’s copying machine alone is close to $20,000 annually. The cost of
providing one teacher’s aide for one hour is $14/hour. Annually, the
cost for one aide is approximately $15,000.
The stark reality is that the state of Washington does not provide the
amount of funding we need to provide the high-quality level of education
that Somerset Elementary students deserve, and that the global
marketplace will demand. In order to continue to provide our children
with the most up-to-date materials, low student-teacher ratios, and
high-quality educational experiences, we as a community must support our
school by raising additional funds to ensure that Somerset Elementary
remains a great public school.

The biannual auction is the major fundraising event for Somerset
Elementary and provides over 70% of the PTSA’s budget for the next two

Would you like to increase awareness of your
business in the Somerset community? Would you like to increase
awareness of a product or service in the Somerset community?
Somerset Elementary School PTSA holds its biennial fundraising event to
support many PTSA programs that enhance the academic and social skills
of each Somerset student. This major spring fundraiser is our way of
supporting enhanced learning experiences through assemblies, field
trips, additional curriculum materials, technology and specialists in
the classrooms.
The Somerset auction is an adult evening event with dinner, silent and
live auctions, raffle and gala atmosphere to raise funds to support the
ongoing education of Somerset children.
The event will host over 400 Somerset parents, friends and community
members. This year’s auction fundraising goal is $150,000.
Corporate and individual sponsorships are sought to maximize fundraising
efforts. Great care is given to recognize the generosity of
